Fay Anderson has been Stone Carving for nine years using Soapstone, Bath, Portland, Purbeck Stone, Caen, Sussex Green Stone and stone from Lecce, Southern Italy. Preferring traditional tools rather than electric, creating animal and human forms but also some abstract pieces. Recently she has begun carving wood which she finds more difficult because of the grain, although the end result, when polished, is very satisfactory.
Dramatic watercolours of Corfe Castle have become a feature of
John Bowen’s paintings. He works in the studio from the large pencil drawings made at the castle. This traditional technique enables him to invest his subject with a considered theatrical impact using effects inspired by the work of John Piper. Original drawings, visual diaries and sketchbooks from painting trips abroad also feature in the exhibition.
