Art In May
'Art in May' is exhibiting at St Peter's Hall at the top of Gold Hill in Shaftesbury, one of the most beautiful views in the country over the Blackmore Vale. This year the following artists are exhibiting:-
Belinda Rush Jansen fashions sculptures in wire, based on animals and the human form.
Sohani Gonzalez works in watercolour and acrylics and is inspired by light and shade from the Mediterranean or sunny English gardens.
Pat Chandler sculptures are carved in local stone and she uses organic materials such as wire, beads and beach pebbles.
Lindsay Keir paintings and prints are based on studies of wild life using gold and silver leaf in her work.
Kate Toms' new collection of paintings are influenced by her textile background and based on drawings of Dorset and Cornwall.
Katherine Fraser produces hand woven art works, scarves, cushions and paintings inspired by nature. This year's work focuses on drawings of the Cornish coast line.
Alison Bundle's work consists mainly of hand built horse and dog forms, often with a bit of humour, in frost resistant stoneware clay, decorated with metallic oxides and lustres.
Carol Clarke works in oils on canvas. Her paintings give dramatic and atmospheric interpretations of the skies and landscapes of Dorset.
