Upwey Potters

Ceramics, pottery, glass

Enjoy a variety of traditional & contemporary ceramics, including sculpture, functional vessels, decorative pieces and Raku, in a delightful setting. Light refreshments available or visit the Wishing Well Café next door for a proper meal or cream tea.
Talk to the potters about their work, inspiration and methods of production. Watch regular demonstrations of throwing and sculpting and firings of the Raku and Soda kilns.

Pat March
Hand built stoneware vessels which evoke the colours and forms of the coastal cliffs and beaches. Multi-sectional sculptures are suitable for the garden.

Maggie Cooke
Impressions of seedheads & grasses in her bowls, dishes & wallhangings catch the light with the translucent porcelain that she uses.

Fil Cooke
Warm & chunky casseroles, mugs, jugs and other domestic ware, soda glazed & fired in the kiln in the bike shed in the Old School Yard!

Bill Crumbleholme
A range of thrown wares echo ancient pots, fusing prehistoric shapes and decorations with modern glazing techniques. Drinking beakers, cooking pots, bowls & vases.

Irene Passmore
Iconic images of beasts, birds and bugs decorate Irene’s tiles and plates. Her torso sculptures use her stone carving skills, finished in attractive bronzed glazes.

Laurence Eastwood
Aged 15, having been our apprentice for the last 3 years is learning a variety of techniques from the old masters! Specialising in teapots and faïence beads.
