Artisan

Artisan is a craft gallery and workshop specialising in promoting the work of Dorset makers and artists. An eclectic selection of high quality work is on show, involving a multitude of media: wood, clay, leather, rush and cane, textiles, paper, wax ... The work takes many forms: scarves, bags, bowls, cards, bug boxes, jewellery, Dorset buttons, smocking, boxes, suncatchers, photographs, notebooks, drawings, paintings, body lotions, textiles... There is also a range of books written and published in Dorset.
The workshop area will have a programme of makers at work and the opportunity to decorate a piece of pottery (to be glazed by the potter and collected by the decorator later). The makers run a range of workshops and courses at Artisan. Visit the website or pick up a leaflet for further information.
Artisan will be celebrating its first birthday on 1 June, so why not join us for a slice of birthday cake and a glass of something bubbly.
Artisan is situated in Poundbury, Prince Charles’ “model village”, on the northern outskirts of Dorchester. The development includes houses, offices, factories, shops and cafes in a variety of architectural styles. Poundbury is unusual in having no yellow lines and free parking!
