Computer-birthed art and sculpture
Computers are increasingly grabbing the headlines – automation, hacking, seismic impact on jobs – bringing hope and anxiety in equal measure. There is no doubt that ever more complex algorithms are manifestly changing the world. But what if we steer computers away from preordained paths and encourage a little randomness? We get ... the unfamiliar. In our increasingly ordered and monitored lives, perhaps this should be encouraged. My art begins with figures “suggested” by software. Then some human discretion is applied, in two and three dimensions. Computers off the leash - at The Lighthouse and Waterstones Cafe (Bournemouth Arcade) until the end of June.
