COMPUTER-BIRTHED ART AND SCULPTURE

Computers are increasingly grabbing the headlines - automation,

hacking, seismic impact on jobs - bringing hope and anxiety in equal

measure. There is no doubt that ever more complex algorithms are

manifestly changing the world. But what if we steer computers away from

preordained paths and encourage a little randomness? We get... the

unfamiliar. In our increasingly ordered and monitored lives, perhaps this

should be encouraged. My art begins with figures ‘suggested’ by

software. Then some human discretion is applied, in two and three

dimensions. Computers off the leash - at The Lighthouse and

Waterstones Cafe (Bournemouth Arcade) until the end of June.

variety of natural fabrics. Local

scenes, seascapes and quirky, fun,

animals and fish are stitched in my

small studio in Poole. Designs are

also available as prints and

Directions:

From the east, I live on the main

road between the Civic Centre roundabout

and Poole town centre, about 200 yards from

Park Gates. From the west, past Birds Hill

Road on left, approx 100 yards on the right.

Access:

Park on opposite side of the road, or

Poole Park, or the drive if there is space. No

big steps but might be rather tight for

wheelchair access.
