Make a Seat in

Using greenwood techniques and

material from Thorncombe Wood

you will be working through

selection, cleaving, shaping,

carving, sawing and drilling to

make a stool. All tools and

materials are provided and you

don’t need any previous

experience.

Karen Hansen

will instruct and

the work will be suitable for any

adult individual who is physically

able. Children of 10 years or more

can be included if they work with

an adult friend. If you would like

Lyme in Dark Glass

SATURDAY 26 MAY

Work with artist

Jenny Mellings

to paint using natural pigments and try

the 18th Century Claude Glass as a way of capturing the landscape.

The day will begin at Lyme Regis Museum with a short introduction to

the Claude Glass used by landscape painters in the era before

photography. We will proceed with painting equipment to a suitable

location along the coast, before returning to the Museum in time for a

lunch break.

Meet again in the Museum education room to assess the morning's work,

and prepare to walk to a second site in the afternoon. Return to the

Museum for an assembly and review of your paintings!

All ages and abilities welcome. Minimum age 8, all materials provided.

Do wear good walking shoes, dress for all weathers, and bring lunch. A

camping seat may also be useful if you have one. In the case of severe

wind and rain, the entire workshop will take place in the museum.

This event will also be taking place again on Saturday 6 October.
