150. Jim Hunter and Sarah Hough

ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE AT DURLSTON CASTLE

Jim Hunter

and

Sarah Hough

are artists whose works express their direct

experience of the Purbeck landscape. Both work initially outdoors using

sketchbooks and drawings from which to develop their individual visions

of this unique environment.

Sarah returns repeatedly to particular locations, in all seasons and

weathers, her viewpoint looking out from the edges. Jim later uses

watercolour and collage to develop abstract interpretations in his

Purbeck studio.

The exhibition includes working drawings, primary studies, sketchbook

examples and abstract realisations.

At times during Art Weeks the artists will be available to discuss their

working practices in Durlston’s beautiful exhibition space.

PRINTS

My paintings are my response to

the excitement of the visual

world, the play of light on

buildings, the intensity of

shadows, the organic colours of

nature, the synthetic colours of

man-made objects and how

people integrate with their

surroundings.
