Farrs Open Day

International furniture maker John Makepeace and horticulturalist Jenny Makepeace invite you to their inspirational historic house and garden, which has featured in many publications and on Gardeners’ World. The house has many examples of John’s acclaimed furniture and a selection of contemporary artworks by internationally acclaimed artists.
There are four areas of the garden which include Jenny’s colourful potager, cleft oak fruit cage, glasshouse and straw bale constructed retreat. This adjoins John’s magnificent grass gardens, rolling lawns, sculptures and topiary. You are welcome to spend time drawing in the grounds, please bring your own equipment, although we will have pencils and postcards available. You may bring a picnic - to be eaten outside only!
Group 7 - A panel discussion chaired by Tim Edgar

Group 7 will talk about their history, ideas, inspiration, processes, why they produce the work they do in their chosen mediums and take questions from the audience. Group 7 have produced a new portfolio of editioned prints and a new catalogue with an essay by Michelle Griffiths especially for DAW2022.

Stone Carving for Beginners

One day Stone Carving workshops. Learn the skills to carve a small relief carving in Portland Stone. Tutored by the Sculptor John Davey and located in a beautiful garden overlooking Portland Harbour. Price per person £ 90.00 for one day workshop.
AKA Mash P

Nathaniel Sesay aka Mash P was forced to fight aged 9 in Sierra Leone’s brutal civil war. Later, living on the street, alone with his camera, but supported by WAYout Arts he began taking photographs on the Bume Dirty Box rubbish dump in Freetown where many families scrape an existence.

Join us for an Arty Party to celebrate Art Weeks at the Boilerhouse @ Sandy Hill Arts. With live music from Dorset based songwriter Emma Gale & Pete Kirkbride, and Indie folk fusion from Felix Maya group. The Gallery and surrounding studios will be open. Plus there will be delicious food available from the Sprout & Bean pop up cafe.
